The Balyo story began
when, two young engineers and robotics enthusiasts, met in 2004. The adventure started when Balyo’s future founders teamed up to automate a custom material handling truck for a large industrial glass company. With this first project the co-founders saw the validation of the technology and the confirmation of a very large market opportunity. In 2005, on the back of this first success, they founded Balyo.
Early on, the company designed its own automatic trucks. Realizing the limited added-value in the underlying truck, the company evolved towards a navigation module concept, focusing on the flexibility and cost savings that intelligent robotisation can bring. This is now a reality, allowing for the robotisation of trucks ranging from pallet jacks, to stackers, tractors, reach trucks, etc.
Available since 2012,
Driven by Balyo navigation technology relies on the recognition of the existing fixtures in an environment: walls, columns and racks, to enable the trucks to self-locate in real time. The flexibility of this system responds directly to new logistics requirements, which must continuously adapt and develop according to demand.
In 2013, Balyo capitalized on its success in Europe and crossed the Atlantic to set up Balyo Inc. in the US. It further strengthened its team by appointing Fabien Bardinet as its Managing Director in the fall of 2013.
In 2015, the company signed a partnership
with the European leader in material handling, Linde Material Handling, to jointly develop and market a unique range of smart robots. To build on this success, in 2016, Balyo signed a second partnership with the American specialist in material handling, Hyster-Yale Group, to boost growth in the Americas.
With more than 200 employees,
Balyo is stepping up its international development, with rep offices in China, Singapore and now also in Australia. Balyo's production units in Paris, Boston and Xiamen make it a global company, just like its clients.
